Über das Buch
In this visual diary, Hugo and Matilda, two adorable hummingbirds are coached by their mother to become pilots of their own lives. Can they find the courage to fly like the BIG BIRDY?
"Once upon a time, a hummingbird mommy named Ms. Honey built a nest on a solid branch of a bottle-brush bush in Phoenix, Arizona. Once she was done, it seemed spacious enough for her two babies who would soon arrive. Her nest had a small kitchen, nursery, living room with a flat screen TV, and Wi-Fi connection. The big window notably pointed North to avoid direct sunlight as it can get very hot in Arizona."
This is how the wondrous story of Hugo and Matilda begins. As they grew from hummingbird babies to toddlers to pilots we became obsessed with documenting their magical journey in pictures.
Looking at these pictures after they had left their nest to see the world, it was only a matter of time to convert them into a narrative and a children's book. We however went even further to create an interactive medium for children and parents alike to observe and research hummingbirds answering some of the interesting questions, such as "How do they talk to each other?"
As important as the actual observation, we also encourage children and their parents to add their own imagination to the story narrative, such as "What is their favorite show on TV?" We also want them to share their sightings of Hugo and Matilda with us.
