Über das Buch
Created by an ordinance of the Portland City Council on July 17, 2007, the Peaks Island Council (PIC) was officially born four months later on November 13, 2007, with the inauguration of its first seven elected councilors.
The PIC's mandate has been to provide a forum for Peaks Islanders to voice their priority concerns relevant to island issues and to be meaningfully involved with the City Council in the decision-making processes that affect our quality of life, both in the present and in the future.
The second inaugural ceremony occurred on September 10, 2008, to be followed a year later by the third on December 8, 2009. Some of the original councilors have left, others have had the courage to re-up and we are happy to see new faces ready to commit themselves to work for the successful outcome of this important, and as yet, fledgling institution.
