War is sweeping across Australia and for seventeen-year-old Neve, the reality of life is becoming too much to bear. When the army chooses her parent's farm as their secret base from which to lead their counterattack, Neve can't take it anymore. She retreats to the one place she feels safe, Eden.

Accessed through the freshwater lake at the bottom of their farm, Eden is Neve's secret hideaway. But it's not the only thing she's hiding. When a young soldier, Seth, starts to get too close, Neve struggles with the fear of falling in love and revealing her past. But when Seth suffers a deadly bullet wound, Neve knows that Eden alone can save him. Desperate to keep him alive, Neve takes him beneath the waters and into Eden. Seth is miraculously healed and the two return to the land above, vowing to never speak of it again. But when militants lead a surprise attack on their property, the truth of what Neve has done is brought to light.

Faced with the truth, Neve must make a fateful decision. Either escape to Eden forever or find the courage to start again. ​
