Never before have I delved so deeply into an artist's psyche while working on an issue as I did with this one. The artist's tumultuous emotional state carried over to me as editor. This was all the more important since the feelings of the artist were included in the assessment of the quality of his works of art and the assessment of the compositional aspects took a back seat.

Bryan Sanders' art comes from within himself and does not depict the external visual world. He wants to move the viewer of his art emotionally and appeal to them inwardly. He translates his own inner feelings directly into the picture.

The dominant bold colors contrast with the shapes and are experienced as an immediate expression. The emotional effect is reinforced by simple, angular shapes that underline the color contrasts and thus create additional tension. In combination with the swirling and swaying brushstrokes, he manages to accurately express the state he is in as a reaction to his fears of the avantgarde world. The brushwork is often wild and energetic, giving the viewer the impression of generate immediacy.

He constructs his own abstract interpretation of reality. "Painting the inside" becomes the leitmotif. The existential need, his fear of loneliness, illness and death and being at the mercy of an overpowering fate - is reflected in his paintings like in a psychogram which is constantly interrupted by love for male beauty in impressively aquarelles.
