The Great Cranberry Island Portrait Project combines art and oral history. Printmaker Janet Best Badger's original black and white and color prints and photojournalist Rebecca Buyers' color photos and oral histories of Great Cranberry Islanders: Ruth Fostervold Westphal, Malcolm Donald, Annie Rice Alley, Gaile Frederika Bunker Colby, Sofie Lillian Nathan Dowling, Michael Richman, Louise Oldbrook Littleton Millar, Eva Marie Bracy Galyean, Wesley “Junior” Bracy, Charlene Louise Allen, Phil Allen Whitney, Clara Frances Pervear Wedge. The 2009 project was accomplished with a grant from Maine Arts Commission and the support of The Heliker-LaHotan Foundation, Great Cranberry Island Historical Society and local residents.
