'exotica' - is a part one, of a documentation of oil paintings produced between 2005-2007 - of things that the artist, Jennie Castle, found 'curiously unusual or excitingly strange' with roots in the African continent.
'exotica - exotica N O I R' - is part two of the documentaion and comprises a selection of artworks created between 2005 - 10 which will be shown as part of a solo exhbition at artSPACE, Berlin : 30th April - 29th May 2010. The book with be available on line at the time of the opening.
All paintings have been created with high quality artists' oils on stretched canvas - some hand-laced with permanent gold and silver pens.
This publication captures the true likeness of the originals....

Über den Autor
Jennie Castle
Thomastown, County Kilkenny, Ireland
Jennie Castle was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia), spent her formative years in Zimbabwe, then moved on to study in South Africa - a year of Bachelor of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town and then several years of Bachelor and Master of Architecture at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Durban. The artist now works from her studio an Speir Design Studios, in rural Ireland.
