Ossabaw Island thrives in peace among the coastal tides of Georgia. It’s one of the rare places in our country that has been allowed to live out its history apart from the trampling feet of tourists and the hovering shadows of resort hotels. Yet Ossabaw is available to those who want to learn from her nature and history, those who want to preserve her stories, and those who help care for her land and inhabitants. Due to restoration and ecological restrictions, Ossabaw will qualify for a typical vacation, we wanted to provide a personal glimpse into what we saw, felt, heard, smelled, and thought, when we had a chance to peek into the mossy shadows and tall grasses of Ossabaw.
