Über das Buch
A photographic record produced as part of a project inspired by medieval books of hours and The Garden Kalendar of 18th century naturalist Gilbert White.
Mich Maroney spent 2010 as the artist-in-residence at The Creekside Centre, on the banks of Deptford Creek, South London, where this work was made.
Responding to a specific place in real time was an intriguing experience for a painter whose work is resolutely non-representational.
In her own words:
"The river, as both literal place and metaphor is the ideal location for dreaming and for reflecting on our amphibian existence where we inhabit the past as well as live in the present."
She documented her year at Creekside on a web diary including videos, music and poetry which can be found at http://commonground08.wordpress.com
A signed limited edition of this book in hardback is available from The Eagle Gallery, Farringdon Street, London.
