Über das Buch
"The Other Side of Demure" is the first book by poet Kathleen (Kate) Peterson Colbert. Through its pieces, organized into powerful and emotional mini collections, Colbert explores the nuances of relationships, the flavors of experience, and the second and third dimensions of the everyday worlds in which we live. Travel with her to laundry rooms rich with nostalgia, exotic vacations full of epiphany, and mundane locales ― like low-rent apartments, suburban beaches and local sports bars ― that offer unexpected lessons and unforetold beauty.
Colbert has studied with acclaimed poet Lucia Cordell Getsi and novelist David Foster Wallace. Her strongest poetic inspirations are derived from her love for the work of Diane Ackerman, for whom Colbert dedicated her master’s thesis and a year of study on the dissolution of genre.
Colbert is best known for her achievements as a business marketing expert, having worked with organizations and brands around the world to clarify their "meaningful difference" and capture the kind of value that leads to profitable, sustainable growth. Her first nonfiction book, "Think Like a Marketer: How a Shift in Mindset Can Change Everything for Your Business," debuted as an Amazon bestseller and is the basis for her notable work as a leadership coach, stage speaker, corporate trainer, and marketing strategist.
Her forthcoming books include "The Lessons No One Taught Us," a collection of essays about life’s most important, and sometimes most startling, lessons, and "Commencement: The Beginning of a New Era in Higher Education," a book based on the insights of 100+ college and university presidents.
