2009 was a great year for steam train photography with some superb weather conditions from snow to sunshine in the Scottish Highlands.

There were also many great trains such as 'Scots Guardsman' on the Settle to Carlisle Line, the Dukedog No. 9017 in BR black for the first time in preservation, the line up of an A1, A2 and two A4's and also a Fairburn in action at the Great Central Railway.
