Karen is a recently retired art and photography teacher with a passion for teaching and a commitment to help all students discover their creative potential. Throughout her career Karen developed a special interest and expertise in digital photographic design. Karen introduced the workshop format into her secondary school photography program, a strategy that enhanced the regular curriculum and was an innovative way to inspire students and introduce new concepts and skills beyond the normal confines of the classroom. PHOTOARTEXPERIENCE was a month-long digital photography workshop for senior photography students at Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute. One of the culminating activities was a hardcover book featuring photographic designs from all the student participants. The workshop provided students with a unique and in-depth learning opportunity and the exemplary work, seen on the pages of this book, illustrates the students’ transformation into accomplished photographers.
