Über das Buch
This book came about through a serendipitous trip to Crete.
In the summer of 2009 a family friend offered an apartment on the island of Crete for almost a week. Immediately I began photographing incessently. Everything seemed brilliant and new, quirks and all, even if the landscape was ancient.
The island was at once wild and foreign to me. Wild in the sense that the landscape was rough and barren with outcroppings of rugged brush and trees. Foreign because things I take for granted in my day to day were certainly the exception - if even at all possible. Armed with a camera and the English language, I quietly announced my tourist status wherever I went. However, I quickly fell in love with the rocky landscape and the patchwork housing - and the people were welcoming.
