Über das Buch
In this, his second collection of poetry, Jay Arr writes revealingly about his family and friends exploring relationships and their common history.
In one poem he evokes memories of a night coastal walk with his father and in another takes his first steps into mathematics with his mother. Jay takes the opportunity to time travel with a son and grandson in a later poem.
His grandchildren play a large part in his life and in this collection. Among other poems there's a prayer for his first grandson and poems about holding hands with his granddaughter and an important first decision made by his second grandson.
His family are represented by poems about attending a funeral, a visit to an elderly aunt, the devastating affect of Alzheimer's and the lifelong experiences of a bricklayer.
The poems for and about seven of his friends include: a portrait, a walk, a journal, buying a book, a planet, a gentle put down and an egg.
Finally there are several poems written for Jay's wife of almost forty years, concluding with the poem much more than words can say which is ultimately what this collection is all about.
