Über das Buch
This little square book was an exercise in micro-movements and the spirituality of imperfection. No editing of writing or drawings allowed - (except the ridiculously obvious!) - It's simple:
I wrote 100 words a day for 100 days
I designed one Zen Square a day for 100 days
Zen Squares are pen and ink drawings that I've been doing since 2004 that began in the form of what I call Calendar Art. I design one calendar square a day - and this one square a day becomes a montage of 365 unique designs at year end. This all morphed into what I now call Zen Squares. Basically, it's a manageable burst of creativity - daily.
The 100 words were often stream of consciousness thoughts and feelings in a 100 word a day format, exactly 100 words - no more, no less. Some make sense, some don't. Some reflect a moment of serenity, anger, grief, joy, epiphany and just spilling out whatever poured. During this period my brother died suddenly - and that is reflected in the tone on some entries. After a while, I decided to shape each writing into my epiphany du jour and wrote as if for a friend. You, gentle reader.

Über den Autor
Susan Graves
NYC and Beacon, NY
Susan Graves loves the creative arts. As a licensed clinical social worker and therapist working in the grid of Manhattan, she sees the importance of living outside the lines and helps clients to do the same. She is a founding member of Threshold Choir International - a hospice volunteer organization started in California in 2000 and was one of the founders of the Manhattan and Hudson Valley chapters. She continues to write 100 words a day, sometimes compiling them into a little collection like this one. Susan divides her time between Manhattan and The Hudson Valley.
