Über das Buch
It is impossible to overstate the significance of St Petersburg in world history. As the erstwhile capital of all Russia, and the site of Tsar Alexander's assassination, it has risen and fallen in political favour over the centuries. Yet despite the tragedies to which it has played host, the Baroque heart of this august city beats with an unstoppable pride and dignity.
