Über das Buch
Egypt - Part Two documents the second part of an extended trip, in the high summer of 2011, to Egypt (and to Jordan--published separately). The book illustrates a six day journey up the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, then on to Abu Simbel, through the Western Desert to the Siwa Oasis, and then along the Mediterranean coast, via El Alamein, to Alexandria, and finally back to Cairo and the seminal events in Tahrir Square.
Egypt - Part 1 (published separately) documents the beginning of the journey which saw me explore Cairo (including Coptic and Islamic Cairo, Sufi dancing, etc.), take in the pyramids of Giza, Saqqara, and Dashur, then move on down the Nile to Luxor, seeing the Theban Necropolis, Karnak, the Colossi of Memnon, as well as the temples of Abydos and Dendera amongst a host of other sites.
Jordan (also published separately) details a similar trip through the Hashemite Kingdom that took place on either side of the Egyptian leg of the journey
