Über das Buch
In August 2011, we joined the ‘Spirit of Enderby’ to travel northwards, through the Bering Strait, to Wrangel Island, an important Nature Reserve in the Arctic Ocean. It is home to a number of endangered species including walrus and polar bear.
Sailing southwards again, we travelled through the Bering Straits, across Anadyroskiy Bay and eventually to the Kamchatka Peninsula. On the way we took the opportunity to explore the coast and the Commander Islands before reaching the largest town in the region, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. South from here we travelled further south along the Kuril Islands until we reached Sakhlin and the end of our journey.

Photography became an important part of my life when, as a teenager, my parents gave me a Box Brownie camera before I left on my first overseas adventure. Now, more than fifty years later, I still enjoy travelling with my camera and visiting diverse parts of the world from cities to isolated landscapes. Between travel, I teach others about photography, either in classes or through online courses. While I enjoy all types of photography, today my interest is more directed towards black and white images, landscapes, macro, nature and creating audio-visuals.
