Über das Buch
You don't know my world or the dusty streets where I live. You don't know my name; you don't know ME, and you don't care.
You think you have troubles in your world , I am not part of that world why should I be? Your children's world is school and homework, TV, music, toys, gadgets and friends.
Your children are concerned about their grades at school, their weight and Mum nagging them to clean up their bedrooms. And will you buy them those designer jeans or latest lap-top they so must have.
You are looking forward to your next holiday in the USA or somewhere else exotic. My world is hard, unloving, unfair, ...worse!
I don't have designer jeans, just these dirty rags I wear. I have never been to school, I have never read a book. I have no Mum to nag me, or care for me – she is dead. I have no bedroom to keep tidy, because I have no home.
I am worried about where I will sleep tonight – will the Policeman wake me up, beat me up, lock me up, or worse...?
I'm concerned about my aching, empty stomach, I'm not well - I have a disease and no medicine to treat it, I have nothing to look forward to...Except an early, lonely death from a disease my underfed body could not resist.
They call me a beggar, a thief, and worse. They look at me with hate in their eyes, then chase me away – what have I done?
You see my picture in your newspapers and on your TV screens, but you turn away. You don't see ME.
I AM in your world – OUR world. I am also a part of Mother Earth, but you are a rich and I am a poor. You could understand my world if you tried, ask questions, find answers, find ME! What is my name? MY name is Street Child of India.
Welcome to the third world. Welcome to INDIA. Welcome to poverty. Welcome to survival. Welcome to the Planet you know nothing about. Welcome to reality.
Have a great day and don't forget to get your kids all the toys and paraphernalia they request, don't forget the sneakers, the ipod's, the fashionable clothes, the new this and the new that. Don't ever let your children feel deprived your kids must never feel bad about themselves, so please buy them things. Don’t hesitate getting them everything they don't really need, only what they want, and make sure it is the most expensive and the best.
Don’t donate to charities, don't help the world, these people have nothing to do with you, its not your fault......
it really isn’t. It has nothing to do with you. at all.......... they blind and maim children in India to get money from begging. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. You can't do anything to help these children so just keep giving your kids whatever they ask you for. Give them more and more and more and more and more.
Then complain when you run out of money and are in debt, feel deprived and feel you are not getting your fair share and feel abused and feel life ain't fair. You should have the best of everything after all you are a westerner where life liberty and the pursuit of happiness is everybody's right.
You are entitled to have whatever life has to offer. SLEEP WELL TONIGHT!
