Über das Buch
Siesta Key, Florida
Our friends, Shirley and Peter Jerome, have been going to Siesta Key in March for a number of years. We decided to visit the area and see for ourselves what makes them return year after year to Siesta Key.
Siesta Key is a barrier island off the central western coast of Florida. It is situated between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. A portion of it lies within the city boundary of Sarasota, and it is affectionately known as Sarasota’s favourite island. Siesta Key is an 8-mile long crescent shaped barrier island which can be reached by two drawbridges.
We flew to Tampa via Washington and rented a car at the airport. It was a picturesque drive to Sarasota, and we drove over one of two drawbridges to reach our accommodation on the island. There is a bridge at both the South and the North ends of the island, and the bridges span the Intracoastal Waterway.
