Like the Atlantes, Nartes Oxions and other Patagons, the Nanosybarites are a more or less fabulous people mentioned by (…) who would have lived at the southernmost limits of the island (doubtlessly around the volcanic area). According to (…) they said of them that “being strict vegetarians, they lived in osmosis with the surrounding fauna”. They were supposed to measure less than half the size of an ordinary human being. Their disappearance seems to have coincided with the first colonization (around 600 years ago) of which the oral tradition relates the ensuing war. The Nanosybarites revolted against the newly arrived, who attempted to subjugate them: “…they were encircled in a battle, massacred and roasted in an oven called Kote mako opé (…) there was a cannibal feast.”
