Au printemps 2012, la célèbre Fondation Kojima pour l’amitié franco-japonaise a reçu en résidence l’artiste français Hubert Renard. Celui-ci est venu sans projet préétabli, sans idées préconçues, sans objectif déclaré. Il a vagabondé dans Tokyo, Kyoto et aussi le Kanto, il s’est laissé conduire par les villes et leurs habitants, et il a produit une série d'installations, d’actions et d’interventions que cet ouvrage tente, peut-être, de restituer.

In Spring 2012, the famous Kojima Foundation for the Franco-Japanese entente cordiale hosted the residency of French artist Hubert Renard. He arrived without a specific project in mind, or preconceived ideas or clear objective. He wandered in Tokyo, Kyoto and the Kanto region, letting the cities and the people guide his movement. He produced along the way a series of installations, actions and interventions that this publication maybe attempts to reconstitute.
