Über das Buch
Islands are surrounded by sea, Istanbul is surrounding the sea. For Greeks this city
has some special significance and they still call it “η Πόλη”, the City! For me additionally,
it’s the “poor Istanbul” in the poems of Nâzım Hikmet and the stories of Aziz
Nesin, It’s the people in the sunrise fishing from the bridge in the golden horn and the
lazy ferry-boats moving slowly the workers from Asia to Europe...
The second photo-journey from the 11x11 series.

Über den Autor
Thanasis Lomef Zacharopoulos
London, UK
Thanasis Lomef Zacharopoulos was born in the small town of Xanthi in north Greece. In 1990 a New Years Eve was initiated to the secrets of aperture and shutter speed, and the experimentation with photography started. Soon, discovered that both his grand father Nestor Lomef and his great uncle Dimitrios Zacharopoulos were taking photographs already in the 30s. Using that as an alibi started to spend his evenings in the (converted wardrobe) dark room. more on http://lomef.net/biography.html
