Über das Buch
Over 400 pages of toy theatre sheets from the early 1800's onwards
This beautifully illustrated book is a catalogue of a personal collection of toy theatre sheets arranged in alphabetical order according to play title.
Toy theatre was a children's toy popular in the 19th century, children would colour cut out and paste the printed figures onto board to create their own theatrical productions.
Not only was this great folk art it also represents the most accurate record of the history of stage scenery and costume of the period.
As a view of a personal collection, many of the productions are not complete, but with so many toy theatre sheets to look at this makes a great coffee table book or serious reference for the collector.
I have been advised that the softback cover option suffers from the fact that this is a very thick book and so can be prone to the pages becoming loose, Consequently this option has been removed for that reason.
