G.M. Howerton left home at 17 and ended up living in Gaeta, Italy for nearly four years. Upon returning to the states, Howerton obtained degrees in Data Processing and Management Information Science. The first stage of his work career began at NASA Langley and ended at Virginia Housing Authority. Howerton began the second stage of his work career as a large format film photographer. As a self taught fine art photographer, Howerton has won many awards for his work including the 2011 1st Place Photography award at Disney's "Festival of the Masters". Howerton's primary influence is Ansel Adams. In his work he attempts to capture landscapes that are both bold and expressive. Originally planned as a 10 part series, Howerton wrote the first three before becoming a full time fine art photographer.
