Über das Buch
A few images of many I have taken over the last few years to be viewed as a pictorial record of the town after the demise of the coal mining industry in the once biggest mining village in the world.
Since the closure
of the two mines, Woodhorn and Ashington, it has now become an economic cesspit with little investment from central government for recovery and growth that is badly needed.
I chose to portray this in the book with images of closed shops and empty streets. Pictures were taken during the light mornings of May/June 2011 when there was little sign of life.
