Two folk tales illustrated and retold by Evelyn Grelli. These were originally told to her in the 1930s by her parents, growing up in the east Kentucky coal country.
The book contains two stories. The second is about her mother, Hattie, and her encounter with a bear as a small child.

This book is a memoir of childhood on Sefton Avenue in the Hamilton neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland. It covers the magical time of early childhood in the 1950s in an Italian immigrant family. My experiences growing up in a Catholic school system are also chronicled. The book ends when the family joins the post-WWII migration to the new suburbs that were springing up all over the United States.
