Über das Buch
You might look to Erica Mann, who needed to write her books in a foreign language, after her immigration to the USA.
I thought: I’d rather cut out my tongue than try to write poetry in English. I fell silent. The move to the USA triggered a stop to my writing in German.
I started looking for a universal language- and entered the visual world that empowered my words beyond limitations of translation and geography. It wasn't long before my grecophil heart discovered the ancient Greek painting technique called encaustic.
This book is the first attempt to combine my poetry, dating from 2005 and 2011, with my encaustic paintings of today.

Über den Autor
In the studio of her uncle Werner Holz, an outstanding German artist, Birgit Huttemann-Holz was exposed to Imaginary Realism/Phantastische Malerei from early age on. Intrigued by the contradictions of the human psyche she first started to write poetry. While working as a Physical Therapist, she went to study literature, philosophy and media science at the University of Karlsruhe and Philipps-University, Marburg, Germany. A sudden move to the US triggered an end to her writings. A universal language was needed- a visual form that moved her words beyond the limitations of translation and geography. It wasn't long before she discovered the ancient Greek painting technique called encaustic. Birgit Huttemann-Holz has exhibited in London, UK, Istanbul, Turkey, Karlsruhe, Germany, New York, Santa Fe and Detroit. She received national and international awards. She lives and works in Detroit.
