Über das Buch
In 1942, Grant Munro was a young artist studying with the "Group of Seven" painter, Frank Carmichael, when world renowned animator, Norman McLaren, saw his portfolio and invited him to come and work at the National Film Board of Canada. Munro later appeared as one of the 2 actors in McLaren's Oscar-winning 1952 film, "Neighbours", where he also coined the term, "pixillation." Among his numerous awards and tributes, Munro's work has been honoured by MOMA, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada, was the recipient of an honorary LLD from Concordia University, and is an Associate of the Ontario College of Art. While Munro, who was born in Winnipeg in 1923, has spent most of his life making films, he has never been without a sketchbook. This book is a selection from the many drawings, paintings, collages and sketches that Grant Munro has created throughout his lifetime.
