Über das Buch
In 2002, I made a trip to Istanbul and discovered the splendors of the palaces of Topkapi and Dolmabahçe.
For the next six years all things Ottoman would influence my work: turbans and tulips, kaftans and embroidered slippers, great feasts organised by sultans in summerhouses (yalis) where mischievous favourites would spend their idle time.
My paintings are by no means historical accounts, but a poetic interpretation of a time and life that no longer exist.
This book presents a small selection of my works.
It is a picture book to enjoy and to cherish, or to pass on to anybody who has a soft spot for Istanbul.
