Mario Reis wohnt seit Oktober 2012 in Gerolstein-Michelbach, Kreis Vulkaneifel und realisiert seit Januar 2013 sein Naturaquarelle Eifelprojekt. 2013 arbeitete er im Kreis Vulkaneifel und in diesem Jahr im Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm, um dort an den Bächen und Flüssen seine Naturaquarelle zu erstellen.
Das Buch enthält ein Essay der Kulturjournalistin Eva Maria Reuther zum Projekt. Außerdem enthält der Bildband einen Kurzkrimi von Eric Eider, in dem der Fluss Nims eine Hauptrolle spielt und der Künstler einem mysteriösen Mord zum Opfer fällt.
Zahlreiche Naturaquarelle aus dem Kreis Bitburg-Prüm sowie Installationsfotos dokumentieren den Entstehungsprozess der Naturaquarelle.
