Über das Buch
This book is a special edition of the last publication Sophia produced with her husband, Eddy. It has been presented here to ensure that the spirit of Sophia, who inspired so many when she was alive, continues. It is through these pages she speaks to us still.
It opens a door into the world of children living in Southern Thailand through picture stories illustrating the everyday and the extraordinary in their lives. Although at first they may seem simple, a closer look at the details in the pictures reveals the intimacy of their experiences of their homes and livelihoods. Whether it's the finely drawn fishing net or the carefully placed crab, the detailed drawing of a long-tail boat, or the finishing touches added to household cooking equipment, these drawings can bring you in to the world of a Southern Thai village.
Prepared as part of a coastal resource management project, the stories presented in this book tell of changes in the life and times of coastal villages over the past several decades. They illustrate the children's awareness of, and concern for, the rich habitats of inland forests, mud flats, mangroves, delta waterways and shores.

Norfolk
I went travelling with Sophia Buranakul, then Wigzell in 1989 and since then we have lived almost parallel lives, she in Thailand and me in the Philippines. Each of these books are moments of reflection. I am now living in Norfolk having come full circle. But my work and life has been working in tropical rainforests of the world. I love to write, but I also love to see my friends works published, so the list available reflects this. Slightly eclectic, but always with reason..
