Über das Buch
In the summer of 2008, Work A.C. built a completely sustainable, urban garden in the courtyard of P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center.
The structure was built out of cardboard, powered by solar energy, and the 50+ varieties of fruits, vegetables, & herbs were watered from a rooftop rainwater collection system.
Public Farm 1 (P.F.1) was the winning entry for the 2008 MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architect Program, and served as a backdrop for the Warm Up music series.
The music series culminated on July 26, with an estimated 5000 people on hand to see James Murphy & Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem) dj. It was the largest party P.S.1 has ever thrown.
Raymond Adams photographed the project from the pre-fabrication work in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and throughout the installation at P.S.1 in Long Island City, Queens. And he was there for that big-ass party.
