The Yellow Bench Portraits began seven years ago,
when on a whim six of us took turns posturing on top
of The Yellow Bench while I snapped photographs
with my Canon G9. To date, I have amassed
hundreds of portraits of family, friends, friends of
friends, co-workers, children of co-workers, partners
and ex-partners all on The Yellow Bench.
The use of a forced perspective offers a humorous,
animated, distortion while defying gravity. This
process of portraiture frees my "sitter" from the
formal portrait, the traditional portrait, the posed and
the seated portrait.
As long as I possess all 7' 5" of yellow Naugahyde,
(aka The Yellow Bench, which recently crossed the border)
