Über das Buch
This book has been released for the 50th anniversary of the 1966 Mawson expedition. It is based around the author's photographs, both colour and black/white. Explanatory text and details have been added, to make the contents as informative as possible for younger audiences who possibly would not understand the working of a 'pre internet' world: how many younger people would now know of a 'telegram'?

Über den Autor
Long ago, I worked in the Australian Bureau of Meteorology as a Weather Observer. In 1966 I became a member of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition (ANARE) at Mawson, Antarctica. During the course of the year I participated in a four month field trip to explore and map part of the Prince Charles Mountains, inland from Mawson. Two years later, I returned south, this time to spend 1968 at Macquarie Island in the Southern Ocean. Where mainland Antarctica was largely ice, Macquarie Island is probably one of the world's greatest places for seeing wildlife. Since my retirement from a life of work, I now am at leisure to follow my interests of travel and photography. And, what's more, creating the occasional book here. :-)
