For nearly 26 years I have been living in a small cabin on a mountain in the woods in eastern Pennsylvania. I have always loved the outdoors and have always cared a great deal about people and our environmental issues. However, there was a point in my life when I became leery of the outdoors due to the increasing numbers of Lyme disease cases. I, unfortunately, was one of the Lyme infected individuals. I suffered for many years from Lyme disease. It seemed that the only help available was repeated antibiotic treatments. In 2013, I finally had enough of the antibiotics and I began to research for information within medical journals and peer reviewed articles to hopefully find alternative answers. Now it is 2020 and I still have had no recurring symptoms, and I am no longer afraid to be outdoors.
