In 1911, just after graduating from college, Wendell Kumlien left his small hometown in Wisconsin and traveled by steamship half way around the world to become a missionary in India. Two years later, his fiancée, Eve Theelen, joined him and they were married in India and had a baby. This is the story of those missionary years, told through the letters written by Wendell and Eve to their family back home, along with maps, images of the ships on which they traveled, copies of diary entries and letters, and historical family photographs to make the story come alive for our families and generations to come.
