Über das Buch
From its humble founding in 1887 to its takeover by North Carolina National Bank in 1991, The Citizens & Southern National Bank played a pivotal role in Southeastern finance. This book highlights four members of the Lane family who had perhaps the greatest influence on its course during these 100 plus years. Remer Y. Lane grew up in humble beginnings in rural Georgia and got his start in finance at his cousin's general store. Mills B. Lane left college at 21 to start work at his father's bank and later moved to Savannah to head the then small Citizens Bank. Through his leadership, the Citizens bank became The Citizens & Southern National Bank and had branches across Georgia and South Carolina. Mills B. Lane, Jr., was educated at Yale and became president of The Citizens & Southern National Bank of Georgia. Through his flamboyant leadership, the bank grew tremendously. Hugh C. Lane went to work for the Citizens & Southern National Bank of South Carolina. While more conservative than his brother, Mills, the bank grew well under Hugh's steady leadership.
