Über das Buch
In 2010 a 44ft gaff-rigged yawl left Ireland to sail through the Northwest Passage to Alaska, a journey of 8,000 miles lasting almost six months. Amongst the four crew members were the first Irish women to transit the passage, and here Sibéal Turraoin captures the people, landscape, nature and life of the far north. With ice, bears, whale hunts and hunters the Arctic is a land far from the maddening crowds and one of the last unspoilt wildernesses on Earth.
