Über das Buch
Japan is a country where it’s very easy to take pictures. First of all, Japanese people are fond of photography, maybe because their country is always under the threat of Nature and Impermanence is at the core of their culture. Towns, castles, gardens are clean, neat as staged for the pleasure of eye. People are smart and kindly accept to be taken in picture.
Japan is yet very difficult to be shot. It’s a secret and shy country, specially for us westerners who have trouble to understand it.
So, to take pictures with meaning about everyday life in Japan, I’ve decide to choose a theme, sort of a guide line, “ The excess and the few”. It was a rule to select pictures and to try to describe the “genuine” Japan. I’m not sure to have made a success but, at least, my images are “appropriate”. “Appropriate” means that my images are respectful of this marvelous country and its inhabitants and that they have just one goal to express magic of a place or a moment. A last word: my images must be seen two by two. They are are associated to be complementary or to be in opposition, just for the fun. Yet they are not classified, it’s up to you to find your way and your rythm inside this portfolio.
