Über das Buch
The tranSTUDIO is an interdisciplinary design laboratory in the Department of Architecture at Texas A&M
University. This studio pursues (1) methods for interrogating digital platforms within the context of innovative
transformable building skins that demonstrate real-time morphological changes; (2) an interdisciplinary
team approach that encourages students to engage with emerging digital tools for adaptable architecture
and design; (3) conversations between computer-controlled tools and the design assumptions based on
such tools; (4) the principles, theories, and applications that govern creative thought, from the formation
of motion through the creation of a physical environment; (5) clariication of both the fundamental basis for
and practical knowledge of transformable systems/strategies in large and small building components; (6)
explanations of the capabilities and limitations of transformable architecture; and (7) the inherent properties
of smart materials useful in exploring the development of self-regulating building skins.
