From the introduction... In a seemingly far off place, literally ‘The Ends of the Earth’ as the name of the rugged mountain range which they call home depicts, live the Mibu people of Papua New Guinea. Sharing this mountain range with at least 100 other language groups, theMibu people, who speak a language called 'Ma' find themselves nestled in the midst of at least four of these other language groups with whom their web of social interaction connects. To give an idea, one can easily find themselves in a changing dialect after hiking for only a half hour. A day of hiking in any direction would put one in either total isolation of the uninhabited rainforest which is the Mibu people’s backyard or in one of these other languages.



While remote and isolated from much, it could hardly be said that the Mibu people are forsaken by God. Indeed God has clearly purposed something special among them. In early 2006 the message of His wonderful grace overcame the cultural, linguistic and spiritual boundaries that had thus far kept it far from the ears of their souls. Being presented in their mother tongue and clearly understood for the first time, many could not help but put their trust and hope in the Faithful Originator of that message, their lives being forever transposed into His kingdom. Now as the flame of God’s love is kindled in their hearts, effecting their lives, one can’t help but wonder just how greatly God will use the Mibu people in the midst of so many others who have not yet heard.



These are the Mibu people. I don't expect that a book of photographs could even begin to give full account of the lives of these or any people. But my hope is that these images may afford the viewer at least a small glimpse of the precious lives and faces of Mibu... Vestiges.
