Über das Buch
A headless ghost rider gallups off into the night.
A large man in battle fatigues and massive zoom lens stares into space next to two unsuspecting middle-aged ballet-goers.
An Uzbek tourist in a floppy hat is overtaken by a sinister-looking young man with a mobile phone.
A child star is photographed by two men in a famous museum.
A group of artists are confronted making drawings next to an antique submarine, and react as though they are subversives.
A young man is listening intently to what appears to be music on his mobile phone and prancing about on the street next to a restaurant near Red Square. Is that really what he is doing or is he clandestinely recording tourist conversations during their lunch?
Well, all these and many more ‘sinister incidents’ are recorded in this delightful and amusing volume of candid photos from Russia’s celebrated Moscow and St. Petersburg cities. No, contrary to expectation, none of these ‘moments’ turn out to be actually sinister or frightening. In fact they mostly record ordinary Russians doing ordinary things like citizens of the Western democracies. But ordinary things become great things when Russian people are captured unawares in the ‘decisive moments’ of their lives.
