“Marty” was born in Niagara Falls, NY and is now a resident of the Miller Beach section of Gary, IN. She earned a bachelor degree from Cornell University in chemistry and a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Connecticut. She is Professor Emerita at Northwestern University. Before retiring, she was Director of the Neurobiology Program at Lurie Children’s Memorial Research Center and managed a research program focused on developing gene and stem cell therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Marty is a founding member of the Miller Beach Arts & Creative District and has served as secretary since its inception in 2009. Marty is a landscape photographer who focuses on local photography. She also travels extensively to photograph in unique places worldwide. Marty is self taught, beginning photography at the age of 10 and has exhibited her photography locally at Gallery 46403, the Lake Street Gallery and Pop Up Art events and nationally in Lubbock TX, Chicago, IL, Evanston IL.
