Maria Ogedengbe’s public art projects include Missouri GOURDen/the “GOURDzebo,” a community shékeré garden–supported by the Kauffman Foundation & ArtsKC. "Object-based painting" projects for the cities of Kansas City, MO and Olathe, KS include boats with painted sails. Ms. Ogedengbe’s work has been awarded 1st Place twice in the Missouri Top 50 and her imagery has been shown on billboards through the Charlotte Street Foundation/Billboard Art Project in Kansas City, Chicago, and New Orleans. She has been an artist-in-residence at the University of Lagos and Fundación Valparaiso. Solo exhibits of her work have been held at the Centro Fotográfico in Oaxaca de Juárez, Mexico and the University of Lagos art gallery. Ambitious new work that correlates with the Biennale theme of “foreigners everywhere” is on view now at Casa Artom in Venice, Italy (adjacent to the Guggenheim Collection–visiting hours on Wed. mornings). Ms. Ogedengbe holds an MFA from Yale University School of Art.
